And not only communicating with your boss, but communicating with your boss's boss and others around you. If your boss doesn't understand you, hopefully someone else will! And about bad jobs vs. bad managers- dead on! I absolutely hated my last job but couldn't bring myself to leave for so long because I LOVED the people I worked with. I just happened to hate my actually tasks. Finally, I realized that I would find great people in other job settings and that I was driving myself nuts by not leaving.
